Methodology
Multiplex real-time, reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR)
Specimen Requirements
Nasal Pharyngeal Swab Specimens and Nasal Swab Specimens can be collected following St. Luke’s standard procedures and placed into viral transport medium.
Preferred when available :The Xpert® Viral Transport Medium or Copan UTM (1 or 3 mL tube with transport medium).
Specimens should be transported at 2–8 °C.
Specimens can be stored at room temperature (15–30 °C) for up to 24 hours and refrigerated (2–8 °C) up to seven days until testing is performed on the GeneXpert.
