Specimen Requirements

Submit only 1 of the following specimens:
 

Preferred:

Whole Blood

Draw blood in a lavender-top (K3 EDTA) Microtainer, and send a full Microtainer tube of K3 EDTA whole blood refrigerated. If there is a delay in transport of >24 hours, spin down, remove plasma, and send specimen refrigerated in plastic vial.

Note:  Specimen should be tested within 14 days.

 

Alternate:

Cord Blood

Collect Cord blood in a pink-top (K2EDTA) tube and send to the laboratory.  Cord blood can also be collected in a red-top (serum, no gel) tube.

Note:  Specimen should be tested within 14 days.
