Direct Chemiluminescent Immunoassay

Specimen Requirements

Serum, EDTA plasma and heparinized plasma are the recommended sample types.

Spin down and send 1 mL of serum or plasma refrigerated.

Note:  Specimen can be refrigerated at 2° C to 8° C for up to 7 days.

 

Unspun specimens must be transported at ambient temperature and arrive to the laboratory within one hour of draw.

Reference Values

<5 IU/mL:  negative (nonimmune)

≥5 and ≤9.9 IU/mL:  equivocal

≥10 IU/mL:  positive (immune)

Immunocompromised individuals and conditions, such as severe infections and immunosuppressive drug therapy, can result in the suppression of antibody levels below the detection threshold for the assay.
