Specimen Requirements

Draw blood in a green-top (lithium heparin) plasma gel tube(s), a heparinized blood gas syringe, or a heparinized capillary tube, and send 1 mL of heparinized whole blood. Expel air bubbles, remove needle from syringe and cap. (Air bubble or clotted blood is not acceptable.) 

Specimens can be store refrigerated or on ice  for up to 8 hours before being analyzed.
