Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR)

 

Specimen Requirements

Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s) or a PPT tube(s). Spin down within 2 hours of draw, and send 2 mL of EDTA plasma refrigerated. If there is a delay in transport of >5 days, freeze specimen in plastic vial.

 

Unspun specimens must be transported at ambient temperature and arrive to the laboratory within one hour of draw.
