Specimen Requirements

Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube(s) or a serum gel tube(s). Spin down within 2 hours of draw, and send 1 mL of serum. If there is a delay in transport of >8 hours, refrigerate specimen, and send specimen refrigerated.

Specimen is stable for 48 hours refrigerated at 2-8C, samples should be frozen in a plastic vial if testing is delayed.

Unspun specimens must be transported at ambient temperature an arrive to the laboratory within one hour of draw.
