Specimen Requirements
Serum from gel tube is preferred, plasma from lithium heparin tube is acceptable.
Spin down within 2 hours of draw, and send 2 mL of serum (or plasma). If there is a delay in transport of >3 days, freeze specimen in plastic vial.
Unspun specimens must be transported at ambient temperature and arrive to the laboratory within one hour of draw.
Reference Values
Normal Range: Reactive

Reactive: Samples with an initial value ≥ 12.0 mIU/mL.
Anti-HBs is detected at ≥ 10.0 mIU/mL and the patient is considered to have protective immunity to HBV infection.
Nonreactive: Samples with an initial value < 8.0 mIU/mL. Anti-HBs is < 10.0 mIU/mL and the patient is considered not to have protective immunity to HBV infection.
Note: The results were obtained using Seimen's Atellica. Results may not be used interchangeably with values from other manufacturers.
