Test Classification and CPT Coding

82784-IgA

83516- Gliadin IgA (If appropriate)

83516- Gliading IgG (if appropriate)

83516-tTG IgA (if appropriate)

83516 tTG IgG (if appropriate)

86255-Endomysial antibodies (if appropriate)

Useful For

Evaluating patients suspected of having celiac disease, including patients with compatible symptoms, patietns with atypical symptoms, and individuals at increased risk (family history, previous diagnosis with associated disease, positivity for DQ2 and/or DQ8).

Testing Algorithm

If IgA is age-specified normal or elevated,  then tissue transglutaminase (tTG) IgA will be performed at an additional charge.  Weakly positive tTG IgA will be sent to Mayo for Endomysial Antibodies IgA and Gliading (Deaminated) Antibody, IgA at an additional charge.

If IgA is below the age specified reference range, then Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) antibodies IgA and IgG and Gliadin (Deaminated) Antibodies IgA and IgG will be performed at an additional charge.

If IgA is <15.1 mg/dL, Tissue TRansflutaminase (tTG) Antibody IgG and Gliadin (Deaminated) Antibody IgG will be performed at an additional charge.
