Specimen Requirements
Submit only 1 of the following specimens:
Serum
Draw blood in a serum gel tube(s). Spin down and send 1 mL of serum in original tube(s). Keep specimen anaerobic. (Do not open tube or transfer).
Whole Blood --This specimen type must arrive within 30 minutes of draw.
Draw blood in a green-top (lithium heparin gel) tube or heparinized blood gas syringe. Minimum volume is 1 mL of heparinized whole blood. Specimun must be kept anaerobic (Do not open or transfer). Forward promptly.
Note: If submitting syringe, expel air bubbles, remove needle, and cap syringe.
