Specimen Requirements
Draw blood in a lavender- or pink-top (EDTA) tube(s). (Clotted blood is not acceptable.)
- Do not use samples that have been stored at room temperature for longer than 8 hours.
- Tightly cap and refrigerate specimens at 2–8°C up to 24 hours.
- Separate and freeze samples at ≤ -20°C for longer storage. Samples may be stored at ≤ -20°C for up to 9 months. Do not store in a frost-free freezer.
Samples may undergo up to 4 freeze-thaw cycles.
Unspun specimens must be transported at ambient temperature and arrive to the laboratory within 8 hours of draw, or 24 hours refrigerated.
