Specimen Requirements
Separated specimens may be stored for up to 3 days at 20 – 25°C or for up to 7 days at 2 - 8°C.
- Freeze samples for up to 30 days at -20°C.
Submit only 1 of the following specimens:
PlasmaDraw blood in a green-top (lithium heparin) plasma
gel tube(s). (Hemolyzed specimen is not
acceptable.) Spin down and send 1 mL of lithium heparin
plasma refrigerated.
Note: 1. Indicate plasma on request
form.
2. Label specimen appropriately (plasma).
Serum
Draw blood in a serum gel tube(s). (Hemolyzed specimen is
not acceptable.) Spin down and send 1 mL of serum
refrigerated.
Note: 1. Indicate serum on request form.
2. Label specimen appropriately (serum).
Reference Values
Males: 10-40 U/L
Females: 10-30 U/L
Samples with results less than 8 U/L will be reported as “< 8 U/L.”
Samples with results greater than 6000 U/L will be reported as “ > 6000 U/L.”
