Methodology

Enzymatic with Glutamate Dehydrogenase

Specimen Requirements

Draw blood in a green-top (lithium heparin) tube(s), and send 5 mL of lithium heparin whole blood. (Sodium citrate or hemolyzed specimen is not acceptable.) Immediately place specimen on wet ice. Tube should be filled completely. Keep specimen anaerobic (do not open or transfer).

The tube should be completely filled, stored tightly capped on ice and centrifuged without delay. Samples should be analyzed within 30 minutes of transportation and centrifugation.
