Note: 1. Indicate date and time of last dose and plasma on request form.
2. Label specimen appropriately (plasma).
Serum
Draw blood in a serum gel tube(s). Spin down and send 1 mL of serum room temperature, stable for up to 8 hours.

Note: 1. Indicate date and time of last dose and serum on request form.
2. Label specimen appropriately (serum).
Unspun specimens must be transported at ambient temperature and arrive to the laboratory within one hour of draw.
Reference Values
Reporable units: µg/mL
See, Rumack-Matthew Nomogram (Resources) for single, one-time ingestion of Acetaminophen
Limits of possible toxicity are lower if the specimen is drawn >4 hours after ingestion. A specimen drawn sooner than 4 hours after ingestion cannot be correlated well with toxicity.
Result will flag as critical at >149 µg/mL
