Rh Immune Globulin, Clinic Request

Performing Laboratory

St. Lukes Hospital Laboratory

Specimen Requirements

This is a request for Rh Immunglobulin.

Please fill out the Rh Immune Globulin: Clinic Request form, in Request Forms in Special Instructions, and fax to St. Luke’s Transfusion Services at 218-249-5542.

Reference Values

For Rh-negative mothers, with a positive or negative antibody screen and an antibody identification of antibody other than anti-D, 1 standard 300 mcg dose of Rh Immune Globulin is indicated.

The Rh D-negative obstetrical patient may be exposed to RBCs from her Rh D-positive fetus during the normal course of pregnancy or after obstetrical procedures such as amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, percutaneous umbilical blood sampling, other obstetrical manipulative procedure (eg, version) or abdominal trauma. Antepartum administration of Rh Immune Globulin at 26 to 28 weeks has been shown to reduce the Rh immunization rate.
